alphaville

Picture
a film by jon luc goddard.  our hero navigates brilliantly in a world of trench coats, cigarettes, hats, spy gadgets and loose women.  a place where it is always night and people only speak french. lots of neon signs, taxis and hotels as well.

paprika

Picture
It is the year 2012, master lucid dreamer, Paprika is busy helping people to become more adept at controlling their subconcious in their dreams. Her plans to save the world from a toy mutiny parade are temporarily delayed by 7 evil scientists, 3 of which have gone completely mad. In this beautifully animated circus spiraling out of control train wreck of a movie; the viewer is left guessing which is the dream and which is reality. Paprika is an obvious inspiration for the movie Inception, which deals with similar themes of collective conciousness and dream states. Two thumbs up!
